Compress an Image to 100KB

This page uses the same browser compressor as the homepage, with the 100KB target already selected. It tries to get each JPG, PNG, or WebP file to that size or smaller. Reaching 100KB is a goal, not a guarantee.

Compression presets

Low starts at 90%, Balanced at 75%, and High at 50%. These are encoder settings, not guaranteed file-size reductions.

Output format

Each image keeps its current format. You can choose JPG, PNG, or WebP when you want to convert.

Selected: 75%

Target size is on, so this slider and the presets do not control the final file. The compressor picks the highest quality that fits the target. Turn target size off to use this slider again.

Target File Size
Target file size

Try to compress the image to this size or smaller. Sizes use 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, the same as the other file sizes here.

Resize Image (Optional)

Change your image dimensions before compression. Keep the original size or enter custom dimensions.

Select an image to set its size. Resizing stays off until you enable it.

Add an image, then compress it.

How to aim for 100KB

Add an image, compress it, and read the target status before you download.

  1. 1

Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. Each file can be up to 20 MB.

  2. 2

Leave the 100 KB target selected. That means 102,400 bytes. Open Advanced Settings if you need a different size.

  3. 3

Compress the image. The tool searches for the highest quality at or below 100 KB and keeps the format you selected.

  4. 4

Read the target status. Target Achieved means the file is 100 KB or smaller. Target Not Achieved means it is still larger.

  5. 5

If the target is missed, turn on resizing or choose JPG or WebP yourself, then compress again. The tool does not switch format for you.

For a tighter limit, you can compress an image toward 50KB. Need a larger budget for the same image? You can compress an image toward 200KB. The general compressor on the homepage still starts with target size off. For a longer explanation of 100KB and 200KB limits, read how to reduce an image to 100KB or 200KB.

Questions about the 100KB target

What the 100KB target does, which formats it accepts, and what happens when a file stays larger.

No. The compressor tries the highest quality that lands at or below 100KB, which is 102,400 bytes. If no result fits, the status is Target Not Achieved and the file can still be larger. That is a goal, not a guarantee.
